Would you recommend Morzine for a June walking holiday?

We have loved mountain walking in Austria for our last few summer holidays - we did Seefeld two years and Hinterglemm - Saalbaach twice and highly recommend both locations. Looking for something similar but in a different area for next year and came across Morzine in France as a suggestion.

Has anyone visited and would you recommend? We are two adults and would go in June. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel with pool and good food? Is public transport good? Do they do a lift pass for tourists - we had this included in Hinterglemm - Saalbaach and it was great. Thank you for any advice or experience you can share.

If you want to do serious walking you might find June a bit early. Not all of the lifts will be open and there will still be snow at higher levels. I’m pretty sure the free busses around various hiking areas don’t run until July either, I think you’ll need a car.
A lot of restaurants etc might be closed or on limited hours in June too.

Ah thank you, that's really helpful. We could do July or early September - was just thinking outside of school holidays.

Morzine is full of ex-pats and mountain bikers. If you’re ok with that, there are some lovely walks but you don’t have to go far to have a far more authentic holiday. Other parts of the portes du soleil attract far fewer brits.
Check the lift opening dates carefully, I don’t think they stay open much into September, if at all.

They do a pedestrian lift pass which is called the Multipass (and it also includes other things like the swimming pools). Just need to check your accommodation is part of the scheme then it's €4 per day.
