Where abroad is in the low 20s in early September?

Ive not been abroad in nearly 10 years. I can Google but wanted to see others experience here. Want to go a long weekend the second week in September, in Europe. But it looks like lots of places will still be 25-27 degrees, which is really hot for me. Looked at Prague, France, Italy, Venice. All look hot.
Is there anywhere with a nice cafe culture thats not usually warmer than 26 degrees then?

Thanks

Vilnius, capital of Lithuania? I'm not much help but I went there in February when it was very snowy, but it's a gorgeous city. I remember thinking we must come back in the summer as they had lots of little cafe's and restaurants lining the streets, very pedestrian friendly too. And incredibly friendly locals.

Gent in Belgium, less busy than Brugge and possible to travel to other nearby places.
I'm in Germany now and travelled through Belgium today, it really isn't that hot now and barring rouge heat spells I am not sure northern Europe will be super hot the second week in September.

Would you be interested in Copenhagen/Oslo/Stockholm? All of those are likely to be cool in September- around 15-17° or so…maybe that’s too cool?

I’m desperate to go to Tbilisi in Georgia, and Google tells me it averages 25-26° in Sept, so that would fit the bill, if it interests you at all.

Galicia and / or Asturias - north / north west coast of Spain are not particularly hot that time of year.

WellConfusedandDazed · 20/08/2026 19:44

Belgium, Germany

Vienna.

Agree, Vienna was beautiful when I went in September, a solid 25 during the day, maybe needed a light cardi in the evening

Oh Vienna sounds lovely. Haven't looked at there before. What is there to do there?

Just seen a PP has mentioned Northern Spain and that reminded me of San Sebastián which is lovely. Excellent food scene and temps of about 22-24° in Sept.

Sesame2011 · 20/08/2026 20:08

Tallinn, Estonia!

Oh Vienna sounds lovely. Haven't looked at there before. What is there to do there?

Schonbrunn Palace, Hofburg Palace, Museums Quarter, lots of lovely little outdoor cafes and restaurants for cake and coffee, Nachtmarket for food and bargains. Can easily fill 2/3 days and a lot of outdoor stuff going on in September.
