Message:
Hi everyone, looking for some Mumsnet magic or a reality check!

We are looking for a last-minute getaway departing from any London airport on 23rd or 24th August for 7 nights. [1]

The Group: 4 adults and 2 teenagers (ages 14 and 16).
Budget: £4,000 max total.
Board Basis: All-Inclusive or Half-Board.
Preferred Destinations: Turkey, Morocco, or Egypt (somewhere guaranteed hot!).

Is this budget remotely possible for a group of 7 during peak August, or am I dreaming? We will need at least two or three rooms. Any specific budget resort recommendations or booking tricks would be amazing. Thanks!

There’s definitely some half board options (not a huge amount but they’re there) but would you take spends if you went half board? The spends you would take for drinks etc, if you add to the overall all inclusive budget, you might be in luck. I’ve seen an All inclusive in Crete for example on easyJet holidays for 4.5k. The issue you have is your 16 year old is counted as an adult too now so obviously drives the cost up a bit!

That's helpful thank you!

Try the Mahdia Palace hotel in Tunisia. I was there this summer and loved it. It’s half-board but soft drinks, water and wine are all included with your evening meal!
It’s a 5 star place (by their standards anyway) with lovely pools and its own private stretch of beach. It would be achievable within your budget, I am sure. Only thing is, there wouldn’t be a heck of a lot to do for your kids. Unless they like to kick back and relax. No water chutes, etc.
There is an excursion booking place across the street though. Quad bikes, boat trips, etc.

You want flights, accomodation and food for 666 per person? You will get shitty hotels and shitty food for that price.
Spain is your best bet. Flight length will drive cost up as well.

Go on Loveholidays. I just put in your details and there’s plenty of Turkey options in particular for your budget. Only thing is, your thread title says 5 adults, 2 teens. But then you go on to say 4 adults, 2 teens. So it will really depend on that. My tip is to set the filter to ‘4 star or above Tripadvisor rating.’
Good luck.

Spain will be more expensive for sure.

Oh, and don’t rule out Tunisia if you’re looking at Morocco anyway.

Have you looked on TUI? I’d be surprised if you can find a HB where the food is okay with that budget but you never know. As an ex travel agent I’d instantly rule out Tunisia if you’re looking for a budget option. The top of the range ones there are questionable let alone a 3*

Tunisia is like Turkey. It’s only as good as the hotel you’re in.

For holidaymakers on a strict budget - and who plan on relaxing at their resort - it can fit the bill. My hotel was stunning, immaculately clean and the food was great.
Would I have visited if not on a budget? Probably not! But the same could be said of many destinations.
Forget TUI. It’s not realistic on your budget, OP.
