Los Cristianos self catering near Pasarela shopping centre: hills, taxis and area advice

I'm looking at a self catering holiday in Los Cristianos, Tenerife, near the Pasarela centro comercial Shopping Centre. I've read that there's a steep hill when coming back from the town and beach. Has anyone got experience staying there and whether taxis were easy to come by (June/July)? I'm a bit concerned about my mil who wouldn't manage hills.

Any general information about the area would be great, too! Nice restaurants, safe beaches, things to see and do? All would be much appreciated.

Honestly, I wouldn't. It is quite a hill! I didn't mind it, as im younger and fitter than your Mil (and it was penance for all of the food and drink!). I do think that someone who struggles with hills would have no chance though, especially when it's hot. And relying on taxis would make you / her feel a little trapped i think. When we got taxis (and there were plenty), our reception called one for us. We never got one back though, as by the time we had wandered far enough to find a taxi rank, we were always near half way back! So I'd say no, unless you car hire.

Thanks @MagratsDanglyCharms21 I'm guessing this is the same for the whole of Costa Adeje/Los Christianos.

Tenerife is quite hilly. Look at San Eugenio area. Lots of bars and restaurants and all very reasonably priced. There is a hill to get down to the beach and further bars/restaurants but if you stay up near the shopping centre that main road is flat and places in easy walking distance.

Thanks both - helpful info to think over. It's tricky because I'm taking teens as well so picked this area for Siam park. Otherwise we'd picked an entirely different location if it was just catering to MIL. The joys of organising family holidays!

I have stayed in LC and CA and I think I know the area you mention which is up a hell of a hill.
Lots of nice seafront hotels in both resorts. Some of Costa Adeje is up hills but the seafront is flat.

Yes, I think it's known as Cardiac Hill, if I've got the right one. I'm looking for a villa with a pool as that would work out cheaper as there's six of us. I'd like a private pool to avoid sunbed wars. That's making the search a bit more tricky. Plus, not wanting to do any driving so DH can relax. I've seen some beautiful properties but all uphill unfortunately.

Why not go to playa de las Americas. It’s pretty flat and close to Siam park.

Hang on a mo!!!! Just had a thought! Our hotel had mobility scooter hire! Pretty sure there were a few places youncould hire from. Loads of people were using them, like you'd use a golf cart! I had forgotten about that until now. If she is happy to hire one of these, you'd all be fine 🙂

I could be wrong but i think they had some 'tandem' ones too, so if she was nervous about steering one, maybe one of you could help!... (maybe someone else can advise further on these)

Inspired!! I'll have a word with her and float the idea. Thank you 😊
