Anyone done a six week solo stay in Spain?

Anyone stayed for an extended holiday eg 6 weeks alone? I’m seriously considering a long let in Spain (ideally Balearics) for end Sept into November so the DC and DH can visit during half term. Would you recommend an apartment or a hotel? Any tips?

I haven’t done it, but I have done lots of other trips.

I would only consider accommodation with facilities for cooking and laundry. I would want access to a balcony or terrace for fresh air in the evening. Also I would want to be within short walking distance to shops and public transport.

Safe travels.

For that length of time, I'd go for an apartment.
The weather could be poor, & you'd be cooped up in one room in an hotel.

If you want good weather you'd be best going to Andalusian coast or Canaries.

No specific recommendations, obviously depends on preference and budget but I'd definitely want a good balcony. If you stayed in a hotel especially, you'd have to think about laundry.

I'd probably look at moving from Seville to Malaga visiting all the major cities and also smaller nice places like Estepona, Ronda, Nerja and white villages with a few days in each.

I think I'd get an apartment in Malaga city. There are so many options from there and the weather is often pleasant at that time. It's a great place on its own with so much to see and do and it is very safe for a solo.

You could get to Granada, Cordoba, Ronda, Seville from there all on day trips. Or you could slot in an overnight for Seville, worth it! All that can be done by coach (very comfortable and very inexpensive) or train.

Six weeks is a long time to be by the beach in Balearics, and things tend to wind down in the resorts in the Winter. But Palma in Majorca is gorgeous. I prefer a city stay as a solo and branch out from there, but that's just me!

Agreed - the Med can be grey, stormy and rainy in the autumn. If you want settled weather I'd head to the southern mainland (location dependent on preference). And no, I've never done it, but it sounds wonderful! I dream of having the time and freedom to do something like that.

Agree with others that that time of year you southern Spain or Canaries.

But I think if can afford it and your DH can juggle kids and work then it’s a lovely idea.

However cost wise it maybe cheaper for you to rent a studio or 1 bed and just get a 2 bed or hotel (maybe somewhere a little away from
where you’re based to explore) when they visit.
