Solo trip to Malaga in September: hotel suggestions near centre and beach

Looking to go on a solo trip to Malaga in September for 3 or 4 nights. I would like to be within walking distance of the centre and not too far from the beach. Never been before and I've had so many recommendations that I can't wait to try it! I'm also looking at apartments but would prefer a smallish hotel if possible.

Room Mate Valeria is lovely and overlooks the port with short walks to the centre and the beaches. Also very easy for the airport bus. It has a fabulous roof terrace with loungers and a bar.

Also look at Grafitti Suites for stylish serviced apartments, again with a roof terrace. Very central and right next to a lovely plaza.
