Best place to spend Christmas away from home and family?

For a variety of reasons, we don’t want to spend Christmas at home or visiting relatives. So where is the best place to spend Christmas?

DD, 24, wants to spend it somewhere like St Lucia
DH thought maybe Cape Town
I thought maybe a beautiful country house hotel, until I realised three nights would be something like £5k… so a week in the sun is probably better

If you spent Christmas somewhere other than home or with family, where’s the best place?

We spent last Xmas at the Landmar Los Gigantes in Tenerife and it was perfect

I came here to say Glencoe but realise now you want somewhere warm! I agree with your DH, I'd choose South Africa.

Not warm but we spent Christmas in New York - it was brilliant. We flew on Christmas Day and came back 2nd January.
Or for better weather head to Thailand or Cambodia or maybe Costa Rica

I know someone who spends every Christmas in Tenerife. They say it's just the same but with sun.

Have you considered a cruise, the Caribean is lovely in December . The Cruise Ships are beautifully decorated and the food and entertainment are really good
