Shamelessly admit I’m looking for inspiration!!!

Favourite places we have been - New Zealand, French Polynesia, Thailand, USA (we have a house there and have travelled all
over), some bits of Australia but some parts we hated, Barbados purely because we go every year and we’re very fond - it’s not spectacular by most standards, Cape Town, Austria (only for skiing, we know nothing about it otherwise), Dordogne, Paris (husband works there a lot so it’s a home from home), Italy.

Places I’d not return to - Dublin, western Ireland (too many interminable summer school holidays spent being neglected there by Irish parents), The Netherlands, Greek Islands (inept sewerage system completely puts me off), Germany (9 months working there made me borderline depressed), India - loved it but definitely one and done.

Places I loved: Murren and the Lauterbrunnen Valley, Switzerland; Austrian Alps, Bavaria, Kotor Bay in Montenegro; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Paris, road tripping the West Coast of California from San Francisco to LA, Lake Garda, the Dolomites, Venice, Paris, Rome, the original Disneyland in California, New Hampshire, Vermont, Normandy coast; New Orleans, Granada.

Places I was not keen on: Boston after one day, Hollywood Boulevard.

Places I hated: Marrakesh, cruising the Caribbean, sunbed holidays, Montreal.

Places I want to go: Alaska, many places in Italy, Slovenia, Canadian Rockies, South of France.

Favourite places/best holidays:

New Zealand’s South Island
Portugal - even the Algarve has a stunningly beautiful coastline and amazing bird life, so not sure why people hate it
Tobermory and Bruce Peninsula in Ontario
Canadian Rockies
Arizona (National Parks, Sedona, many fabulous state parks)
Utah and its National parks (strange place, but spectacular)
Oregon, especially the coast
Florida in the winter - wetlands with alligators and manatees.
Austrian alps in the summer
Tromso and the Hurtigruten in the winter

Surely a lot depends on what you like to do on holiday? I.e. culture, views, sightseeing or just a beautiful beach and warm sea?

I’ve liked most places we have been. Some of my favourites: Maldives, Corfu, Japan, India, Vietnam, Greenland, Iceland, Berlin, Malaysia, Mauritius. I used to like going to the US but I’ll leave that for a while.
i wouldn’t go back to Barcelona overrated in my opinion. Went to Phuket this year I didn’t like it but I want to see more of Thailand.
Bucket list is still massive: China, Australia, Tanzania, Antarctica, South Pacific Islands at the top of I can save up enough.

Best holiday ever was fly drive California. Did big Sur etc, Yosemite (unbelievable) Death Valley, Lake Tahoe, Napa. Second best, the Garden Route in South Africa from Cape Town. Not a fan of cities but Cape Town was wonderful

Best: Iceland, Switzerland, Botswana
Wouldn't go back: Maldives (fake, locals hate you and don;t make much of a secret of it), USA while current government reigns and border security is even more power crazed that in previous years.
On list: Georgia (country) and the 'Stans, Shetland Isles
