Inter-railing. Phone stolen in Spain.

My 19 year old has had her phone stolen in Madrid. She’s travelling with a friend. Any suggestions as to the best way to go about obtaining a new one which will work around Europe and what best to do/not do. Slightly panicking as access to bank and train tickets were via her phone. (All bank cards have been cancelled).

Just buy a new phone and sim from a shop.of the same network. It'll all link up

EU phones are synced to the same wavebands as the UK, so no problems there. She needs to ensure the phone isn't 'locked' to a local network. As she'll be buying it outright, this shouldn't be a problem but she ought to double-check.

Get the salesperson to switch its language to English, or do it herself in settings -> language and region. Buy a local SIM to use while travelling in Europe.
