Missing middle names on Singapore Airlines flight

We're due to fly to Sydney from London on Friday and I've just noticed our tickets don't show our middle names. Our tickets say non changeable non refundable. The agent says there will be a fee to change, if it's even possible. They've written to SA. If we'd have gone direct to Singapore Airlines is would have been $50 per person to change but I have a feeling the agent is going to charge this, plus their 'admin fee'. Reading stories online, some say first and surname is fine (our visas match our passports which seems to be more important). I feel sick, and stupid. If the agent comes back and says it's £1000 to change for example, do we just go to the airport and try our luck and explain at the desk?

Looking at all my past flight bookings none of them have our middle names on them. Variety of airlines, including Lufthansa, KLM, Emirates and budget European airlines. I think you will be fine with just your first name and surname.

Is this a requirement for a particular country you are concerned about?

I did the same for flights to Thailand and it wasn’t an issue. I checked with Trailfinders as I was worried, and they said not to worry about it as middle names are not important in SE Asia, only the first and last names.

We had the same dilemma with Thai airways. The only thing we couldn’t do was automatic bag drop at Heathrow after checking in online, but it was fine at a desk with an agent. Four flights and no issues. I hope it will be the same for you with Singapore.

They will fix this at check-in. They're not in the business of denying boarding based on gotchas. Some Asian airlines do like you to put all your middle names (so that the boarding pass exactly matches the travel document), but I'm always a bit concerned that my three will overwhelm the computer in some way, so for Europe and the US I just use my first given name.
