Panormos Crete?

We usually do very busy holidays either theme parks, cruises or big resorts but have decided we want something calmer next year with our teens. I’ve found a beautiful villa in Panormos, I’m just a bit worried if it’ll be too quiet? We’ll have a car. Are there a good mix of restaurants, shops, bakeries? (Don’t want to cook much, if at all) we can go out for a few days, but for the evenings and the days we stay put, is there a good choice of food?

We stayed there last year in an amazing villa with a little private beach. The village itself has lots of little restaurants along cobbled streets and a couple down on the sea front too. There are lots of places you can go by car, Chania and Heraklion are around 1.25/1.5hrs by car along the costal road.
The village has a lovely atmosphere and there was a Lidl about a 15 minute drive away in Rethymno.
I wonder if you are looking at the same villa that we stayed in?
They do a quad safari that my brother SIL, DN and Dad did one day. May be good for your teens, but you do need a licence to actually drive them.
We also went to Calypso diving on the south of the island, it was a bit of a drive but amazing once we got there and if you have snorkels well worth a visit. It was a bit pricey, you had to pay for sunbeds and I’d recommend taking food and drink as the cafe was ££ and not much choice, but so worth it for the snorkelling and the setting. https://www.kalypsodivecenter.com/home.html

Thank you, that all sounds wonderful and exactly what we are after. The villa we are looking at is a 3 bed, I think it’s 2 semi detached villas (with their own individual gardens/pools) about a 50m walk to the beach. I’ve struggled to find other modern looking villas close enough to the beach so was really pleased with this.

That sounds lovely! Ours was bigger as we needed 6 bedrooms so not the same one (3 generations together), but the area was lovely, peaceful but with some Cretian life to explore too.
