Travel advisor or travel planner? Need advice

A few months ago, I joined Inteletravel as an Independent Travel Advisor and I'm really struggling - when people are asking me to price up holidays for them, I know they could get it so much cheaper doing it by themselves and I feel horrible charging them the 'travel agent' fees just so I can make a bit of money. I know there's the extra level of protection booking through a travel agent but tbh, it's not something I've ever done / used myself.

I'm thinking of leaving Inteletravel and doing more as a 'Travel Planner's i.e I research holidays, best prices etc and send them links to book themselves. I'd charge a small finders fee but that would be transparent from the start.

I literally spend any free time researching holidays / road trips etc for myself and probably have the next 5 years planned 😂 so this would just be a wee bit pocket money doing something I already love without the guilt attached.

All.my family and friends always comment about my ability to plan holidays and it'd probably be the first thing mentioned at my funeral 😂

Do you guys think that would work or am I just fooling myself?

Surely you knew it was a pyramid scheme before you signed up?

To be honest with AI it’s becoming much easier for people to research, plans and book bespoke holidays themselves. I’m not sure there would be much demand for a service.

Im very similar in that I spend lots of my free time planning holidays - Google maps is my most used app!

Interested to know what road trips you have planned 😊

I'm not questioning that, it's the commission added to the holidays that I'm uncomfortable with, the same as your High Street Travel Agent. I'm not in to recruit people to make more money, that doesn't interest me at all.

I do get that but there are still a few people coming to me for long haul who don't know where to start.
Google maps is probably my most used app on my phone too 🤣
Next year I'm stuck between Brazil or a road trip through Albania, Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Montenegro!
I have thoroughly planned both but after 2 expensive holidays this year, I'm not sure whether to go all out for Brazil or try and cut back and do the Balkans.
