European city break in January - recommendations

Has anyone been on a successful post christmas city break in Europe?
We are hoping to go away as a couple in January and originally considering Berlin. However have heard that Berlin is particularly dark and grey in the winter so wondering if it should be saved for another time? Unless anyone would recommend it as a place to go regardless?
We would love to go somewhere snowy but are guessing that will be expensive, so any other places that are similarly priced to Berlin but perhaps a bit brighter in January?
We have done Copenhagen, Paris, Krakow, Prague, Rome, Brussels and Budapest so hopefully somewhere different.

Basel was lovely. Expensive, but very pretty.

Have done Barcelona and Florence in January, both great, some restaurants closed in Florence but enough open and no queues for galleries etc

Seville

But Berlin, whatever the weather is a must

Some.good suggestions, I hadnt thought of Florence but that could be interesting.
I love the sound of Basel but will need to price it up as the last time I went to Switzerland it was extortionate!

Vienna.

Palma, or Seville, or Valencia. Berlin with be bloody cold, and v grey. It’s a brilliant city, but not at its best in January.

We did Venice first week of January and loved it. Lots of tourists but not crowded like the summer so would highly recommend.

Vienna!! It will be gorgeous post Christmas. If you like art / museums it’s amazing. Plus the food will be perfect fit that time of year

I've also done Venice in January and would recommend. It's was sunny with blue skies though not particularly warm. Not crowded but it was the first weekend of carnival so plenty of people in costumes etc.

Valencia

I don't know about Berlin, but some cities leave the Christmas lights up for quite a ways after Christmas- thinking of Warsaw and Krakow in particular. So despite the early sunset it still feels festive and brighter in the evening. That said I'd probbaly lean towards somewhere in Spain or Italy as well.

Malaga ☀️

Stockholm, Copenhagen, been to both between Christmas and new year. Stockholm was no more expensive than London this year. It snowed. It does get dark early. Otherwise, Lisbon?

Would Bruges be snowy? I’ve not been but it looks so pretty. I think it would be very cosy in January, with or without snow. Venice? Atmospheric and less visitors than other times.

I love Berlin but you're right to think carefully about going in January as it's likely to be absolutely freezing. I lived in northern Germany years ago and it was so cold they used the phrase "risk of exposed freezing flesh" on the radio sometimes in the winter... I'd go to southern Europe and accept the weather will be variable.
