Looking to go next spring..budget about £450 a night. 2 adults but need 2 beds in the room.

This is my go to in NYC although it’s a few years since I have been. It’s like a calm Oasis right by Times Square. They used to have a daily wine and cheese reception but it looks like this may have stopped.

I have just been looking at that one! I've stayed in the Library Hotel...loved the wine and cheese! But no they don't do it any longer.

We stayed at the Casablanca in October. It was fine, not exactly luxury but clean and good location with helpful staff. No wine and cheese but they do have a light breakfast buffet in the morning which is handy when you wake early with jet lag!

Just come back from here, big room with 2 big beds. Was lovely with great roof terrace with Empire State views.

Found The Pearl to be quite well located. Although the breakfast was basic.

I stayed at the New Yorker by Penn Station. Art Deco hotel with two restaurants on site and a Starbucks in the lobby. It’s right by Madison Square Garden and a hop, skip and a jump from the Empire State. So jealous! I want to go back now.

Love the Bryant Park Hotel, really lovely rooms and good location. Stayed at the Kixby too and really liked it.
The New Yorker is more budget friendly and really close to Liberty Bagel which is a big plus

Another vote for the New Yorker! The bathrooms/showers are small as original art deco, but I loved the aesthetic. I had a room with an empire state view and the location was perfect.

We stayed at club quarters which is right next to the 9/11 memorial fountains. Big rooms, two beds and the rooms have fridge, microwave and coffee maker. We bought a kettle for 10 dollars at target nearby but they also offer free coffee and water to residents in the lobby. Free laundry too.

Just stayed at the Arlo in Soho which was a great location. Nice hotel with rooftop bar and speakeasy bar and restaurant.

The rooms were absolutely tiny (at least the ones we booked were) but there was a massive a la cartr breakfast included which was great.

@EpoissesThe key to NY is knowing what you want to see. It’s a long way from 911 to Central Park. Wine and cheese is pretty useless if you are out enjoying the sights, so I’d not say this was important.

Think how you will travel to get to the key sights. So do you need mid town or are you ok with more extreme locations?

We based ourselves in SoHo last time and it’s very different to Midtown. We stayed at the SoHo Grand. When we were there the New Yorker was accommodation for interns and not great in my view.

Next spring is vague. Avoiding Easter is cheaper. It can be very cold in March and April. May is warmer.

So, look carefully at what you want to see and do and do you want anything within walking distance. Many American hotels have 2 beds in the room. Hotel rooms are often small and breakfast is usually extra, so going to a diner nearby is often much cheaper. I’d avoid the Financial District or the 911 area as there’s not so much to see. Be aware of the tax and tipping in restaurants. Everything you order will be at least 30% more expensive than you think!

Ive been a few times before but not with DD. It will be Easter time as she works term time. We are deciding next week between Casablanca and Kixby.
