Any ideas for Romania?

Just thinking that it looks really interesting so I’d fly to Bucharest then tour around . Has anyone done this? Is it easy to arrange?

We've gone a couple of times, travelling independently (last time we stayed in Brasov and Cluj, stayed in Sighișoara and Bucharest before). Lots of easy day trips to do on local buses and trains, old towns to explore, seeing wild bears. The young people all speak English. It's also cheap and has excellent wine. You can arrange many trips/tickets before you go.

You can see traditional Romania in Maramures - farmers still drive horses with carts there - and there are some extraordinary painted churches. If people are dressed up for an event, they will be put out if you don't take pictures! We did this as a one-day trip from Brasov

There's so much there and it's so big that I'd recommend thinking about what interests you and go through a guide book.

Went last year, did Cluj, Sibiu, Brasov, Sinaia (mountains) then Bucharest. Absolutely loved it. It is good value, the people are lovely, has a lot to see an do. Particularly liked Bucharest Terme and Palace of the Parliament (also the bank museum but you have to book, it is free and the gardens (cimisgiu?)). Sinaia was fab, Pele's castle, chairlift up the Bucegi Mountains, bears ! Brasov was great, we did do Bran's castle (although early because it gets rammed) and it was better than I had expected. Sibiu was also lovely, went to a lido, and in Cluj (again a lovely town, university town, with nice botanical gardens). It is all fairly cheap, It takes a bit of self planning though. The trains are OK, esp the Brasov to Bucherest route and you can book online but they go at weird times. You can move about by Bolt fairly easily, and cheaply once you arrive somewhere. We found the hotels and Airbnbs perfectly fine.

Thankyou I’m just looking now seen quite a few package tours but pretty expensive. Although I do like the travelling with other people element I’ve made a couple of nice friends doing that!!
