Child free 5 days abroad- ideas

Celebrating a big birthday and my parents have offered childcare for a Mon- Friday break for April 2027 abroad.

Looking for something under £2k all in, ideally 1.5k.
I’m not keen on USA/ Middle East. Ideally lovely Europe.
Looking for nice places to eat, a nice cultured area to explore easily and a good hotel.
I want to eat nice food, explore a pretty area, read books and chill out. Nice enough weather but not essential to be scorching summer, as per April.

Madeira seems a good option. Thoughts on this? I’m not familiar with it at all.

We’ve done North Spain so not planning on there without children. Also done Vienna, Amsterdam, Madrid, Brittany, Barcelona, Costa Del Sol plenty so not those places

Malta? There’s some lovely old cities and one day you can catch a ferry to Gozo.
Seville or Valencia or somewhere like Cadiz
Madeira would be good.
Porto
copenhagen although it’s quite expensive

Lisbon would fit the bill

Just came back from Larache, Morocco. 3 hours from London and a lot of English speaking Moroccans.
They made it so easy at the cafes. They brought out high chairs and played with my daughter when she was whinging.
They are very helpful with children.
Also a lovely beach.

Rome? I always recommend Rome 😆

Or Seville?

Malta
Lisbon/Cascais
Granada
Provence, choose Avignon for a base and explore if you are happy to rent a car for 1-2 days.

Slovenia. You have direct flights to Ljubljana from Gatwick and Edinburgh (or Manchester to Zagreb, then an easy train ride).

We did this in May.. stayed in Valletta, Malta, beautiful and compact.. history and culture everywhere and really vibrant at night. Surrounded by water, we swam in the sea. Absolutely gorgeous! Repeating next year in Croatia, Rovinj as similar vibe and some really luxurious hotels including adults only if you want extra chilled.

Dubrovnik - lovely mix of beaches and city break. Our favourite ever trip.
