Recommendations for a family autumn break under four hours from the UK

We’ve not been able to get away over summer, so I’m thinking of booking 5 nights away in October, open to city break or beach, kids aged 7, 12, 14, ideally less than 4hrs flight from UK - any recommendations for places you’ve loved for an autumn family break?

Venice?

We went to Sorrento October half term one year. Still lovely and warm and the sea warm for swimming but not roasting. We went then because we specifically wanted to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum without melting in the summer.

If you want guaranteed sun - Cyprus

Otherwise it's great for sightseeing, Italy, Spain, southern France. It may still be T-shirt weather but you will have the chance of rain.

We did Pompeii last year mid-October, everythign from sun and low twenties to rain and 15 degrees one day.
We went to northern Provence (near Mont Ventoux) which was good, again, a mix of weather but sights are less crowded.

Crete or Cyprus

We managed to get a Disneyland Paris bargain in October. Wasn’t too busy, weather was perfect, and the dc especially loved the Halloween theming/events. Spent one of the days actually in Paris.

Great suggestions, I’m going to get researching. Thanks!

Cyprus or the Canaries if you're looking for warmth.

Sicily - maybe Giardini Naxos, so you can visit Taormina, Godfather Tour Alcantara Gorge, Etna, boat trips etc
