What do we need for SK? Visa, internet, etc

We are stopping over in Seoul for a week, do we need a visa? What about internet? Cash? Travelling with 19 and 15 year old DD who have their own plans and don’t want to spend all the time with their parents visiting sites. We all enjoy good food so will meet to eat.

No visa required for uk citizens. Free internet in a lot of areas of Seoul. We used mainly card but lived in China at the time and in SK it’s easy to pay with union pay. Metro is reasonable and easy to use. Lots of fabulous palaces, museums and DMZ if you are interested, but need to book a trip in advance.

Yes, 3 days beforehand if I recall correctly.

U can buy SIM card at the airport in the arrival zone. They need your passport as burner phones are illegal. U can use free WiFi but then use VPN to protect yourself. There are different providers but they are all ok coverage wise.

U can just use UK bank cards, but with chip and pin rather than contactless. Some places support EU standard contactless and ApplePay as well but usually chip and pin are safer bet. Not sure if your card is AMEX but Visa and Master cards are accepted everywhere.

If you want to bring some cash, don't bother any 1000 won notes. Nowadays it has become expensive so you would need 10,000 won note (£5) as min and some 50,000 won notes.

Don't need a visa as such but they started the K-ETA system recently, so I think you need to do that (I haven't been since it was implemented).

You can get e-sims for your phone from companies like Airalo or trip.com - seems easiest to me.
