Bring any snacks you like. Personally I wouldn’t bring nuts on a plane. You could spend nothing or you could spend a lot, no one can answer that. Do you want to stay on resort or get out and about?

What time is your flight?

What sort of tips are you after and what ages are your DC?

We usually buy snacks for the plane at the airport - things like crisps or sweets but no nuts and nothing smelly! Coming back I usually pre-order DS a kids meal box for the plane so we don't have to worry if the airport is busy or there's nothing he likes. It means I know he's all set with food whatever happens.

We've never done AI so I'm unsure on the spending money, as we have to factor in our meals.

You can bring any snacks you like. I take at least 5-6 flights a month (so I’d consider myself a seasoned traveller), and it’s only maybe once a year they make a nut allergy announcement on the plane.

My advice is to read the airport website well and know what to expect. Have you, the adults, been on planes before? My bugbear is people who exit security, a shop, or get off an escalator and stand there blocking the way for everybody else while they try to read screens and directions. So my main tip is, please stand to the side when trying to read screens. Not everyone will be stopping for them 😅

Snacks - yes but remember airports often still have the 100ml liquid rules so check your outgoing airport website if you can bring drinks or things like yoghurt.

We often bring cereal bars or fruit and then get a coffee and a sandwich at the airport, we prefer early flights and I am not making a sandwich at home at 4am.

Turkey - I haven't been in ages but friends went and mentioned that food/drink outside the resorts are not cheap anymore so it depends what your plans are. Euros/Pounds are often taken, maybe easier than changing to Lira you will need to change again. I normally just use a cash machine with my debit card if I want some cash, I never exchange cash at home but we often have Euros from other trips.

Power banks need to be in hand luggage. Any medication you will need also needs to be in it. If you have anything which is prescribed I would always take the original packaging with the label.

Where are you flying from?

It depends a bit in your dc's ages.

I always make sure I have enough food and drink for the plane in case my dc refused to eat the food provided.

Bring a sweet or lolly to suck during take off and landing to reduce pressure on the ears.

If you have little ones, bring a full change of clothes for everyone in your hand luggage (yes, we had a toddler have an accident while sitting on someone's lap at the beginning of a long flight).

You can bring empty drinks bottles and refill with water on the far side of security.

Everyone carries their own bag. I would try to make sure there were one or two new things to do for the dc (like a sticker book or tiny toy) for the flight.

Make sure you have comfortable headphones for your dc if they're going to use screens for entertainment.

There is an easy way of practicing travel with a small child. Pack a rucksack and go out for the day on the bus. Preferably a decent way. It perfectly mimics the waiting and sitting nicely that the child will be required to do. You can identify what works for your child, what you need to bring and what isn't worth putting in the bag.
