Looking for a girls trip away April /May next year. Ages 50-60 we are looking for a reasonably priced villa or apartment with at least 4 beds 2 bath, possibly a pool. Needs to be not to far from an airport. Looking for a relaxed vibe so we can cook and relax on a nice terrace but maybe somewhere to walk to for the occasional meal out. There will be 5 of us but most of us prefer our own room. Thinking maybe France, Portugal but would consider anywhere but not looking for a city break.

What airport are you flying from, availability of flights on the day you want to travel will help narrow down the options. France, Spain and Portugal are good options for big places so work out a few flight options first - if you live near Stansted or Gatwick you have more options than the rest of us basically

Would you hire a car and drive so one person would have to be designated driver on meals out or are you hoping for all to be walking distance, or with good taxi service?

No we won't be hiring a car

I would consider either Málaga or Alicante. Both lovely cities with beaches and a harbour and close to the airport

How about a package holiday to somewhere like sorrento. You can then get transfers, loads of restaurants, get the train to Pompeii (prebook) for the day.

That sounds like a possibility

You could consider Turkey or more southern Greek islands like Crete, Rhodes etc. My go to at the end of May is always Corfu but maybe a bit too early in the season if you would like some sun. Have you also considered Marrakesh and renting a riad in the old town? I know you said no city breaks but I did a girls trip once - we had a couple of days out including a hike into the Atlas Mountains and a water park - went to some lovely restaurants but also had an in-house cook who served us the most amazing breakfast/brunch every day and an evening meal one night that I still dream of!! https://www.riadafrica.com/private-riad-dar-africa

I've stayed here in Malaga several times. There is direct bus from the airport which was 4euro last time I went and takes 20mins. Although Malaga is classed as a city, I found it far more like a relaxed town. Near the beach, promenade walks along the beach, great restaurants, some museums, great fruit/veg market, easy to walk around, safe and a mix of locals, Spanish and European tourists. Not the brits abroad you might find along the coastal resorts. A memorable day trip via train was to see the famous bridge in Ronda.

We stayed in these apartments. They have various room sizes and some have little balconies or terraces. No pool though, but there is a beach in Malaga.

That looks amazing but probably out of our price bracket
