Card game recommendations for a family holiday with teens

Can anyone recommend any good games to take on holiday? 2 adults and a 16yo and 12yo. One that is easier to get our head round and ideally just uses cards.

We like games like Chameleon, Top of the World, The Mind, The Crack List.

DD and I can play Shithead for hours. Only needs a regular deck of cards.

Skyjo is a great game. My family love it too.

Was also going to suggest poker! Someone bought my ds a set for Christmas, we took it on holiday over new years and it was a lot of fun. He’s 14, one of his older cousins taught us all the rules, it’s quite simple (he wrote me a little guide to help me, I kept it on the table next to me to refer to - had all the hand combo options and the value from highest to lowest), I ended up winning quite a lot 😂😂

Also a standard deck of cards but we love scabby queen (old maid), so easy and always funny.

We used to play poker at school with the mission money (I went to a Catholic Convent school).

We play this at work during coffee breaks, endless fun

The card game Newmarket where there’s also betting to make it more exciting 😃. I used to keep a tub of pennies for it.

You can look up online how to play it (you need two decks of cards).

Not a card game in the same sense, but Shot in the Dark is great. Questions with answers you can only guess at, so everyone has a go and you see who is closest. Great while you're waiting for the food to arrive in a restaurant, and gets everyone talking and having crazy discussions 😄

We’re on holiday with just 1 teen this summer so need games playable with 3. I reckon Poker would work. Those who say they have bought it, is it just the sets with the chips?

we also got personalised top trumps ( as in our family) that was a lot of fun

There’s a good family version which is less edgy but still hilarious.

UNO keeps us entertained for hours. But if you mean playing cards, then Whist, Sevens, Cheat, Canasta, Rummy, Thumbs Down, Cribbage

Yes easy to learn and not expensive.

I can highly recommend poker dice. Not cards but card adjacent and uses many poker principles.

failing that …. Actual Poker with playing cards? Teens will love it and it’s such a fantastic game. You can bet with inconsequential amounts or Monopoly money.

Reason for suggesting actual poker is that kid-focused card games will be boring and far too simplistic for many teens. Mine grew out of Uno at about 10-11, it is not a captivating game once you can understand strategy and planning ahead 😂.

Cards against Humanity is also brilliant with slightly older teens althouhh not if you are squeamish as it appallingly rude and could cause embarrassment if you’re that way inclined. Apologies if you’ve said your kids are like, 12 and 13 - haven’t read the full thread and obviously CaH would be totally unsuitable if so.
