Where would you send 5 women for 4 nights of sun, pool and gentle nightlife?

So… we’ve decided to cancel our Bruno Mars London trip this summer. One of our girls can’t come as she’s due to have an op on one of her ‘girls’ to match the other 'girl' after stage 4 BC ❤️ and it just wouldn’t be the same going without her.
But now we need something else to plan and look forward to!!

There are 5 of us and we’re thinking about 4 nights somewhere warm next year. No idea what month yet really, we’ll work that around her recovery and when we can all get away.

We want sun, a pool (definitely a pool!! Heated if we go when it might be cooler), and enough loungers for all of us to lie around, drink, chat and put the world to rights 😂

We don’t want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere though. We’d like local bars and restaurants, a bit of gentle nightlife and some atmosphere in the evenings. Not looking for clubs or anything mad, but equally don’t want everywhere shut at 9pm!

Beach nearby would be lovely, either walking distance or a short taxi. We’d also need a local shop/supermarket nearby for drinks, snacks and supplies.
Flying from Cardiff or Bristol and really don’t want a massive transfer at the other end.

Accommodation wise we’re open. A lovely Airbnb/villa with a pool would probably be ideal, but we’d definitely consider a hotel, B&B or half board. Not really looking for a package all inclusive holiday.

I’ve googled and googled and keep getting the usual generic answers, so I want to know where people have actually been and loved.

Where have you stayed that you’d genuinely recommend for 5 women wanting sun, pool, nice food, drinks and a good laugh? Specific towns/resorts would be great, but actual hotels, villas or Airbnbs would be even better!

We just need something bloody lovely to look forward to ❤️

If you want something nearby we've always enjoyed the Channel Islands. Or further afield Madeira?

WatermelonKiwi · 08/07/2026 20:58

Barcelona! Or Palma - enjoy!

TooBigForMyBoots · 08/07/2026 21:00

Palma.

Close enough to get to.
Small enough to learn to get around in 2 days.
Great restaurants.
Views, beaches and luxury.
Brilliant trips all over the island.
Amazing people.❤️

La Cala de Mijas, Costa del Sol. Still Spanish, not too touristy with lovely restaurants. We went last year for exactly the same holiday and loved it.

Greek islands they’re all lovely Kefalonia, Santorini, Skiathos, Zante

Vilamoura in the Algarve could work. Lots of flight options to Faro, and then about 25 minutes in an Uber. Definitely nice restaurants and some bars, but nothing crazy!

If you'd said this year I would have suggested Clacton, as after all there is going to be a lot going on.

Antibes or Beaulieu sur Mer in France.

Clearinguptheclutter · 08/07/2026 21:07

Palma

Justanother123 · 08/07/2026 21:10

Palma. Loved it there.

Gifteddeposit2008 · 08/07/2026 21:12

Alghero in Sardinia is lovely

mylifeisexams · 08/07/2026 21:16

Malaga. Really lively but you can participate as much or as little as you like. Hotels have small rooftop pools. It’s 15 mins from the airport. The city is all walkable and has loads to see and do and millions of restaurants and bars. Art galleries, museums, a fort, a cathedral, a port, a city beach but plenty more a short bus or taxi ride away.

For Palma, look at the Melia Palma Bay hotel - across the road from the beach, and a 10-minute walk into town. Go to Abaco for fabulous cocktails (actually the cocktails are merely OK, and not cheap, but the place is fabulous. Go to Arlequin for really fabulous cocktails).

Majorca, Malta

fluffiphlox · 08/07/2026 22:05

Palme de Mallorca.

RipePeach · 08/07/2026 22:10

Another vote for Malaga!

ItsPickleRick · 08/07/2026 22:14

Ibiza. It’s a beautiful island with the old town, stunning beaches, and plenty to do even outside of San Antonio.

rivalsbinge · 08/07/2026 22:17

Antibes, France, Palma, Ibizas smaller island (can’t recall the name!) Malta.

Lampzade · 08/07/2026 22:18

Porto in Portugal

Formentera?

CoffeeAndCakeBringMeJoy · 08/07/2026 22:29

Palma, Málaga or Vilamoura. Lovely places with lots to offer.

DancingNotDrowning · 08/07/2026 22:36

Palma, Marbella, Antibes all easy to get to.

I hated villamoura - stayed in a hotel alongside a couple of premier league footballers and their families who spent the entire week being obnoxious and ruining the vibe for everyone else. aggravated by getting the worst food poisoning of my life.

patooties · 08/07/2026 22:40

We stayed a gruphotel in Palma - it had a spa etc. it was fantastic but this was probably 10? years ago though so take that as you will.

Blessedbethefruitloopss · 08/07/2026 22:42

Old Town Albufeira.

Costacoffeeplease · 08/07/2026 22:43

Carvoeiro, Lagos or Alvor in the algarve. I live in one of them and happy to answer questions

musicmum75 · 08/07/2026 22:45

Menorca (Son Bou is lovely) or Olhos de Agua in Portugal.
