4 adults travelling economy next summer. I haven’t flown long haul for over 20 years and I’m wondering if there’s much difference in comfort between airlines?

Air Canada.

Not BA .. I did long haul with them last year, first one for a long time and I was stunned how little room we had.

Westjet

We used WestJet and it was fine.
Try on Skyscanner or Google Flights for the dates you want and it will tell you who operates the route.

I travel most years to see family in Calgary. I used to use air transat which was part of Canadian Affair. Not sure if they are still flying. I have flown predominantly with Air Canada and found them excellent.

I have used Westjet only on domestic flights in Canada. A good airline also. Little difference in comfort I would say. BA don’t fly to Calgary.

Any direct flight - you can check legroom online for different airlines but they don’t differ that much. Not many options to Calgary.

Thanks all, I’ll do some more research

Not many options to Calgary

If it's non-stop London- Calgary the OP is after then agreed.

Calgary has been in and out of favour over the years with many european airlines, probably only options non-stop will be Westjet and Air Canada, but happy to be corrected.

West Jet, Air Canada are probably
you’re best direct options. Air Transat also does but I really wouldn’t recommend them its quite budget airline but for long haul - doable but not nearly as comfortable and they’re strict with bags lately

We did Air Canada I can’t remember there being any other choice at the time. It was ok, not as good as a BA or Virgin.

Outtaxed · 06/07/2026 23:44

Remember Air Canada’s motto: we are only happy when you’re unhappy.

I’ve flown non stop to Calgary from Edinburgh a few times with WestJet, who are a decent enough airline and it’s always been pretty good. Doing the trip again next week actually.
