Butlins or not with a 2 year old and 1 year old?

After a disastrous summer holiday, I'm looking to book a long weekend away the beginning of September, I live in Derbyshire so want somewhere as close as possible. I was considering butlins but I have a 2 year old and a 1 year old, but is it too overwhelming for them at this age? Would a haven holiday or something similar be more suitable? (I've never been to butlins or haven so have no idea what to expect)

Butlins is not popular on mn but we've had a number of really good holidays there. Our dc love the activities and we loved the fact that there's not extra costs for these, so we weren't saying no all the time.

At those ages, the pool, the fairground, the playground and the little shows that are put on, you'll have a great time.

I will say, it's worth paying for nicer accommodation if you can.

My little boy was really poorly so we spent most of the time in and out of a&e 😔 realistically I want it to be cheap and not too far

Butlins is great with this age, but make sure you stay in one of the hotels and book food. I found it really relaxing having food and entertainment included. Yes if you look carefully it could do with some tlc (and cleaning) in places but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting and it's perfect for tiny ones. Go for a just for tots week, it's cheap as chips.

Ps: I haven't found Haven any better, just a lot more expensive.

I went with 4 kids to bognor a bit older than yours. It was very busy and very loud inside. Glad I only went for a weekend. Maybe haven or away resorts.

The tots weeks are a bit better.

Butlins tots break was fab with ours! We have been twice, everything is included in the price entertainment wise so its perfect! I second hotel and dining plan, worked a lot better for us as kids could just have bits.

Haven also fab but a bit harder work for me as I had to cook!

Again, Butlins is hated on mumsnet in favour of Centre Parks but I dont think you can go wrong with small kids!

DCs loved Butlins at that age, and still do. They are big fans of funfairs stage shows, and pools with slides. The slides are very accessible for toddlers, not all big flumes. It gets busy and crowded but that doesn't faze them as we're Londoners and we go to busy places all the time.
