If we didn’t like Marmaris, where would we like?

We found a lovely hotel (Marmaris Bay Resort) which was thankfully across the bay from Marmaris last year.
The hotel was ace, private beaches, not too big, adults only, in a pine forest, AI with quality food and cocktails, but for me, Marmaris was like a hot Blackpool, with not much culture and hours away from any ancient historic sites.
The upside was, the hotel was less than £1000 each for the week.
Please could anyone recommend other areas which would suit?
Currently considering Belek, Olu Deniz, Bodrum, Alana/Antalya. Are they going to scratch the itch?
Where is your favourite Turkish beach resort?

I like the stretch between Marmaris and Icelmer, Keymer, Fetithe. Olu Deniz is beautiful but has a strip like a smaller Marmaris. I like Bodrum, my DH doesn’t. Ozdere near Izmir has a nice beach and is near Ephesus.

I actually think where you stayed is really good for excursions.

Fethiye is really lovely. We stayed at Letoonia resort on the other side of the bay but the hotel provides shuttle boat over to Fethiye marina/town and from there you can explore including getting the dolmuz to Olu Deniz and Kayakoy. You can also do a half day trip to Yaka park and the Saklikent Gorge.

Was one of my favourite holidays!

Thank you (and thanks to those who have commented so far).
That sounds like a good location.

It may be worth looking at small group or private tours as this makes the trips to ruins etc a bit shorter as there are less hotel pick ups.

Fethiye is lovely and you can get the bus to olu deniz for the day. I personally would not stay in olu deniz now but it was a wonderful haven 30 years ago!!! Hisaronu the same.We like Dalyan but the beach is not on your doorstep. The boat trips from Fethiye are beautiful.
