Efteling at Christmas

Hello

Has anyone done Efteling at Christmas? Or any time? I have two young teens and want to know if it would be suitable for them. Park looks really pretty from what I can see, I've always wanted to go!

Great for teens, but I wouldn't fancy Christmas. Christmas isn't that big a deal in NL and the weather is the same as the UK: cold, damp and grey.

We would be solely in Efteling though for their Christmas wonderland thing (not sure what it's called) The weather would be a concern though..and the rides not being open because of said weather!

We went just after New Year’s Day but before schools re-opened and it was lovely. They have a lovely ice rink area with fires and hot chocolate. It was all very pretty but it was freezing cold. Only one or two rides were closed because of ice. We’ve also been in July and it was more pleasant not having to wrap up in coats, gloves, scarves and hats all the time.
Having said that Efterling is wonderful whenever you go!

@mygrandchildrenrock Ok that's good to know that only a couple of the rides were closed. It does look lovely! Was it very, very busy over New Year?

We went a few years ago on Dec 31st and it was fabulous. It wasn’t very busy either. It’s the most wonderful place, especially in the fairytale woods.

Who thinks about Christmas in a heatwave!!!!

mygrandchildrenrock · 25/06/2026 09:39

@Saltysweetspicy it was January 2nd we went, but it was busier in July! The rides that closed were just closed for 1 day each. I’m sure you’ll have a great time, especially if your young teens are quick walkers - keeps you warm and gets you to the next ride quicker!

@ButtercupYellow26 Christmas has just been released, and if I don't book soon then it will sell out. Do you think I should wait until November or when it's colder to try and book?

@mygrandchildrenrock perfect thank you! haha yes they are always desperate to get to the next thing so it's normally me trying to keep up with them - not a bad thing if it's freezing!

@Henrythegorilla i'm pleasantly surprised to hear it wasn't too busy. It looks absolutely beautiful so I think I'll go ahead.
