Somewhere like Wengen?

I love Wengen in Switzerland, its setting is so beautiful, and has so much to do i.e. different chair lifts and various types of train to different mountains and villages. I tried Mayrofen in Austria but it seemed too large and sort of corporate, and just a few chairlifts/cable cars in operation in summer.
Can a hone suggest anything in the Alps similar to Wengen in the way I've described?

Garmisch beautiful lakes and mountains - lifts, a train, fabulous pizza and close to Munich for a day out

You can spend a day on the Wank. 😃

Saas-Fee.

Seefeld - on the train line between Innsbruck and Munich, so you can get to Mittenwald and Garmisch. Hotels give you an activity pass with free bus ticket. Leutasch gorge. Cable car and funiculars etc. 2 outdoor pools. Hotel Haymon especially recommended.

I recommend Ortesei in the Dolomites. Lovely town, not too big, with plenty of shops, bars & restaurants. A few cable cars in town & good bus links to other villages across the Val Gardena
Prices much cheaper than Switzerland but still spectacular scenery.

Lucerne is another option.

There is nowhere like Wengen (apart from Murren, opposite!). It's so tricky, I agree, because in good weather, it's just perfection.

However, if you can go not expecting to find Wengen #2, but clear your mind, then there are some other lovely areas to explore. I took was going to suggest Seefeld as a lovely spot with others nearby to explore.

I agree with Ortisei in the Dolomites - attractive and several cable car / funicular options to incredible mountain scenery from the town.
Also Grainau near Garmisch, small, quiet and cute. Fabulous view of the Zugspitze range. Cog railway up the Zugspitze and Eibsee lake is stunning.
Ehrwald just over the border in Austria has a cable car up the Zugspitze and another from where you can walk to a beautiful high mountain lake, Seebensee.
