Yikes!

Have booked a very last minute trip and am equally excited and nervous.

Flights booked but not accommodation - we go on Wednesday.

Can anyone please recommend hotels and other tips please.

We’re fairly adventurous (50s) and up for most things.

Wow that is last minute! Trogir is nearer to Split airport, so you can cast your search there too.
You can take trips to the islands also from Split.
Krka National Park is a good day out too. You can usually do private tours.
We stayed in a holiday park near trogir, but not sure if that is what you would like.

I did this last year. Booked an apartment via Booking.com a 10 minute walk from Split harbour. We loved it.

Walked out the airport and got on the local bus into Split. There is an app you can download and buy your bus tickets in advance and activate the ticket when ready to use (Promet Split). Cheaper than buying direct from the driver.

Had a night away at the National park already mentioned (got a Flixbus there and back), took a boat trip from the harbour for the day with 3 stops to swim / explore.

Finally, using the transport app, took the local bus down the coast to Omis twice and once up to Trogir. If we saw a lovely beach/ area, we just got off the bus, explored / swam / snorkelled and then got on the next one. Super easy.

We loved the snorkeling! The fish were amazing to see. All along the coast they have sectioned areas to swim in / get changed etc.

Have a wonderful time! We are looking to go back.

P.S. I only had the first night's accommodation booked and booked the rest when I got there / Ponce had worked out what we wanted to do / knew the weather (boost to to islands)

We did the zip lining in Omis & canoeing down the river there. The public transport is so easy you could book any hotel along the coast from Trogir all the way down to Omis depending what you fancy doing. The only thing I had booked in advance was a walking tour round the old Town in Split on the first morning to get our bearings / learn the history.

Loved Split. We stayed at the Radisson and would recommend. It's around an hour to walk into the centre but we enjoyed the walk along the coast then got a taxi back. There are some bars and restaurants around a 10-15 min walk from the hotel.

Stayed at Palace Suites Heritage Hotel in April, right in the centre but very quiet. Loved it! They have a driver who will collect you from the airport and tell you all about Split.
