Corfu - what excursions do you recommend?

I’m going back to Corfu this year. I absolutely love the place. I’ve got a regular hotel that I use because I know the family that own it and it’s just total relaxation for me.

I love boat trip, but I’ve done the Paxos one so many times. I really wanted to do the Parga one this year however it appears to only run on a Sunday and that is my arrival and departure day so that’s not gonna happen

I just wondered if I was missing a trick and there were other excursions to do. Many years ago I did do the boat trip to Albania which potentially I could repeat back then and we are talking 30+ years I found it really traumatic tho!

I’m not a verse to hiring a car on my own however I’m also happy to take buses or other excursions. The one thing I won’t do on my own which I’ve done before with a friend is hire a boat - it was amazing but not by myself!

Have you been to Kassiopi? That's where we holiday and you can get boat trips to there.
Where did you go in Albania? We're thinking of taking a trip there just for a day.

Nugg · 03/06/2026 21:34

Not sure re Albania it was decades ago but was a boat from Corfu so guessing whatever they offer

yes, last year when we hired a boat for a couple of days, we came up to Kassiopi.

I think I might just end up doing the same boat trip to Paxos and the blue lagoon because it is good fun and I adore Paxos

Can you get a boat from Corfu town to Paxos?

Nugg · 04/06/2026 18:41

Yes I’ve done that every year but fancied a change bits a lovely trip tho and really good value

I hope you have a fantastic holiday. When are you going? I'm back in September.

Nugg · 05/06/2026 03:39

Why not hire a car? You can go where you want then. So many smaller villages to see.

I’m following in the hope of more recommendations! We are going to Corfu next May, staying in a villa a few miles from Corfu Town (Gouvia if anyone knows it). I like the idea of the Paxos trip and was thinking of Albania. Is there anywhere in particular on Corfu island itself people would recommend?

Kassiopi as I've mentioned. Watch videos on YouTube. If you go then do visit Rastoni 2 bar. It's just up from the square. You get free meze with beer wine etc. All homemade. They do nice coffee too. Very friendly.

Perithia which is a pretty but abandoned village was a good trip when we went last year

Blogswife · 08/06/2026 18:32

The Monastery at Paleokastritsa is beautiful

Nugg · 09/06/2026 17:02

Thanks all. Did Paleo last year and agree it’s beautiful esp the monastery never done Perithia and I may hire a car. I went with my partner last year and we did a car and also a boat for a day but I would have a boat on my own 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

We went to Chlomos and visited the museum, shows how people used to live and only €6. Fabulous views and nice to just wander around. A few hairpin bends on the way!

One of the joys of Corfu is just hiring a car and going into the countryside and having a mooch in small villages. Look for olive oil sellers and little cafes. Of course the sea is lovely and Barbati and Dasia are worth a visit as well as local churches and markets. Check out market days.

Excellent. I've recommended Corfu to a friend who often travels solo. Such a friendly place that feels safe imo.

opalescent · 11/06/2026 12:37

@Nuggcan you recommend a tour operator for the paxos trip please? There are so many to choose from! We are a mixed age family group with kids

opalescent · 11/06/2026 12:38

Hoping for some facilities (toilets especially), but not too rammed! We also want to have a decent amount of time to swim/snorkel

Nugg · 12/06/2026 20:00

@opalescentI literally book when I’m there. The local excursion companies in most resorts will offer similar deals tbh! I never pay more than about £35/40 for the trip
