Are flip flops suitable for walking around PortAventura theme park?

Hi,

I am going to Portaventura next week and I am looking some advice. If you have been there please help me out. Would flip flops be suitable to wear around the theme park? They are a good comfy pair of croc branded ones. I really don't want to be getting sweaty feet in socks and trainers.

If you're going on rides, then no.

No. Unless they have a back strap? Something like Tevas

Will I be asked to take them off?

I've no idea. If you're even allowed on rides in them you'll be lucky to keep them on your feet.

Because they’ll fall off your feet that’s why

If you want to go on rides then flip flops that cannot be secured to your feet will most likely be a no no due to the risk of them coming off your feet. They MIGHT be alright on some of the smaller gentle rides but even then they may be deemed unsuitable or unsafe for loading and unloading from a ride.

This is from the Portaventura website:

"Even in peak August heat, flip-flops or loose sandals are the worst enemy in an amusement park. First, they don’t provide support or cushioning for hours of walking, which leads to foot and back pain. Second, and even more important, on rides with loops or where your feet hang freely (such as Shambhala or Dragon Khan), there is a real risk they could fly off." While they don't expressly say they are forbidden some or all rides may have that restriction.

It’s a mega big park so not sure you would be comfortable and you aren’t allowed to ride the rides with flip flops so sandals with straps would be best.

Flomingho · Yesterday 18:24

Definately sandals with straps as they may not allow you on the rides. Whilst it's not the largest of theme parks there is still a bit of walking involved to see it all.

I have done port aventura in birckenstocks they are more secure then flip flops. and OK to go on the rides. I wouldn't wear flip flops

I’ve never been but I have been to any others and I see no reason why port aventura would have different rules to other theme parks. On the most intense thrill rides I would worry they may not stay on your feet or you will at least be concerned about the possibility while on a ride. They are also not ideal footwear to do 15k plus steps in.

*many

No, it’s a huge park and they won’t be sturdy enough for crowds, a few up hill
bits or the rides.

To be honest I wouldn't mind having to remove them. I'm barefoot anyway but just not in flip flops lol!

I wear Skechers flip flops every time I go to Orlando parks. Walked absolutely miles in them! Take them off on rides where feet dangle and leave them at the boarding station. Never had a problem.

A lot of theme parks won't let you walk around barefoot or ride on rides barefoot. It's a potential liability issue.

If you want to go on roller coasters and other rides wear sandals you can fasten properly or lightweight trainers.
