Pub Stay in Wales

My husband and I are looking to have a night away for our wedding anniversary. Ideally, we'd like to find a traditional pub (decent real ales) with rooms, in Wales, that either serves food or has somewhere within walking distance where we can eat, preferably in a village (if there's a second pub, that would be great!) and with some walks nearby. Anywhere within about 1.5 hours of Welshpool would be fine (fun driving roads to get there would be a bonus!).

Suggestions very much appreciated ☺️

Y Pengwern in Llan Ffestiniog is a nice little place. Very unspoilt. It’s owned by the community, has local ales and they have a Welsh choir performing on Saturday nights.
