Last time i went we had a 2 room apartment with terrace at Hotel Leon D;Oro which is right in the Old Town. S/c set up but with breakfast included.

Chances are there won’t be British tv available unless you are thinking of using a Firestick. While in Prague we watched TV on a laptop.

We were there in February and stayed at the Manes Boutique Hotel, it was lovely and a good price. Nice rooms, great welcome from the staff there and complimentary wine and beer (if that’s your thing). It has great reviews on Tripadvisor.

I stayed between Prague 1+3. Was close enough to walk in and out of the tourist spots and far away enough to get some quiet cafes

AgnesMcDoo · 01/06/2026 23:05

I stayed here. It was stunning. 5 minute walk from Charles Bridge and area felt very safe.

Won't you be out having dinner and enjoying the city in the evenings?
A holiday is the obvious time when there is no need for a TV.
However, I'm sure most hotels or appartments will have one, so I doubt it will be an issue.
As everyone says, stay in the Old Town. Don't be fooled by being near Wenceslas Square..... it isn't a twinkly Christmas card place, in spite of the name.

Prague is a great city! Would recommend Prague Hostel Apartments where we stayed recently wi the another family https://www.booking.com/Share-lI7WiT0. and don’t be put off by the name-it’s not in a hostel and they are lovely apartments!

I love Prague! I used flatio rather than Airbnb and stayed in Andel, which I also loved. But I was there for several weeks at a time rather than a short visit

FeltCarrot · 02/06/2026 07:30

Just been and stayed in an apartment just off the square, fantastic location and we could have breakfast at the cafe bar next door. Will try and find a link…

FeltCarrot · 02/06/2026 07:48

Couldn’t work out how to do a link!

FeltCarrot · 02/06/2026 07:51

Where I stayed it was about a 10 minute metro ride to the centre, but was a 5 star hotel. I’d probably stay in the old town now.

iknowitsthePittsbutiloveit · 02/06/2026 12:42

@FeltCarrotthey look really nice which one did you stay in!

We were in flat 2 on the 2nd floor. It was really spacious although the “kitchen” was really just a sink with a portable hob, kettle and a fridge which was in the main room, enough to make drinks.
The owner met us there and gave us a discount card to use for breakfast at the Fat Cat next door, buffet breakfast was about £7 each. He also advised against using the mini markets and go to Tesco instead which was about 10 minute walk.
We found it a fantastic location, 2 minutes from the clock.
We could also leave our bags on the last day as we had an afternoon flight.

Thankyou all so much . All sorted now and looking forward to it

As a fun thing to do, go and have a drink or meal at the Vytopna Railway restaurant. All the food and drinks are brought by miniature trains!

MimiGC · 16/06/2026 08:32

Looking at these suggestions with interest, as a visit to Prague is definitely on my wish list. I have difficulties walking far - is public transport in Prague good or is it really a place you need to explore on foot?

FeltCarrot · 17/06/2026 07:35

We walked everywhere, the clock was a 2 minute walk from our apartment one way, the Charles Bridge 5 minutes the other direction and Wenceslas Sq about 15, so all quite close. We didn’t use public transport at all when we were there. The only lengthy walk we did was to the castle, but we took our time and got there early, maybe 30 minutes.
I had a knee problem and had to strap it up and it did get sore with all the cobbles in the old town.

Definitely go to Vytopna - it's always the first place I suggest to people I know going to Prague. It gets busy at the traditional lunch and dinner times so you'll need to book. We usually go around 3/4pm and have always got a table.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 17/06/2026 23:06

I just saw you’ve booked but my recommendation is always Mooo downtown apartments.
beautifully decorated serviced apartments, in a historic old building. Quirky, cool, and very comfortable!

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 17/06/2026 23:08

And buy a Nine Towers ticket, it’s a great way to explore the city… and you’ll definitely get your steps in!

iknowitsthePittsbutiloveit · 20/06/2026 11:22

Thankyou all as always for the very helpful suggestions. Am flying back now we had a daytime didn’t manage to do everything so may need to return!!!😂 in the end we stayed at emerald appartments managed by Prague days. The appartment was amazing on the edge of the Jewish quarter and old town. They have given me a discount code for 10% off if anyone is ever thinking of going .
