Brussels - child metro tickets

Is anyone familiar with Brussels that can help - DD10 and I will be there for a couple of days in July & will need to use the metro. I can obviously tap in and out myself to pay - looking online it says kids age 6-11 travel free with a paying adult, but does she need any sort of ticket?
I have downloaded the STIB-MIVB and Floya apps but i can't see any way to add her to my ticket - i feel like i am being extra dense 🤣 do i just tap in and she walks through the gate with me? I want to make sure i am doing the right thing & avoid getting fined or something.
Any help much appreciated!

The transport website isn’t very helpful - I just tried to find the rules.

I’m fairly certain that under 12s need a special transport card to travel for free. I think it’s only for residents and in any case you have to buy it.

So I think you will need to buy her a ticket, or tap in with your bank card for her.

The website is really unclear isn't it!? I mean of course I will buy her whatever ticket is needed - i guess i will just have to do it in person rather than on the app. I might be being super dense, but I can't even see a way to buy a child ticket online - it just says to tap in and out....

Have a read through this Reddit thread - looks like it covers what you've asked:
