Is Antibes family friendly?

We're going on holidays to Antibes on the French riviera in a few weeks. I realise I should have asked the question before I booked but here we are. I've wanted to visit the region for a long time and got overly excited by holiday planning last year.

I would love to hear how child friendly it is overall. We’ll be travelling with a 3.5 year old and a baby. Are restaurants generally welcoming to young children? Do most places offer kids’ menus or are they happy to do smaller/simple meals for little ones? Are there any family friendly beach clubs?

I would also like any recommendations for family friendly restaurants, beaches, playgrounds, or days out. DS is generally good on day trips so I hope we can do some low key sightseeing.

We'll be staying in a villa mid way between Antibes and Juan les Pins. My parents are coming with us so we'll have childcare for the occasional dinner date or adult only day trip.

Thanks!

There are several lovely beaches in Antibes. It is quite a low-key town, people hanging out at ghe beach, going for walks etc. Haven't been to Juan les Pins. I think it is more resort like and so may have more things for kids to do but can be quiet off season but hopefully everywhere will be open by the time you go.

I've only been without kids so haven't really taken note of child friendly restaurants etc but probably anywhere with outdoor seating will be fine.

If you are planning day trips by public transport, be aware that trains and buses can be very crowded. It is often standing room only and you are crammed in. However, if you are heading east on a train, at least you will be getting on before the crowds at Nice.

Not so much a child-friendly suggestion but don't miss the excellent Picasso museum.

For me this is the highlight of Antibes.

Yes, we took our first family holiday to Juan le Pins and spent a fair time in Antibes. The beaches at Juan le Pins are good, and I remember there was a good playground that wasn’t far from the beach (one road behind it I remember correctly). We travelled about by train a bit which was fine and there was room on the train for the buggy. In Antibes there was a small fairground when we went, which was suitable for young children. My son was only 1.5 when we went so can’t remember much about the restaurants, but I don’t remember having any issues. I do remember he loved the punnets of ultra fresh raspberries and blueberries available at the local supermarket! Hope you have a great time.

I don't know about Antibes specifically, but France in general usually has great value "formule enfant" children's meal deals in many restaurants.

A long time since I have been with my kids, but we used to go to the theme parks near Biot train station (this is just down from Antibes, probs 10 mins on train) there was a good aqua parc and a normal theme park and zoo set up which had quite a lot of rides for little ones (in fact, in would have been less good for older children). Worth a look. Remember the beach being pebbly there rather than sandy, can't remember the restaurants, but think they were all OK, and it was a calm enough place. Enjoy x
