Ohrid hotel recommendation

Hi everyone,
I’m planning a trip to Ohrid and will most likely book my package through TUI. Before I make my final decision, I’d love to hear your recommendations for hotels in Ohrid.
I’m looking for a clean and comfortable hotel in a good location, preferably close to the lake and within walking distance of the Old Town and restaurants.
If you have stayed in Ohrid, which hotels would you recommend and why?
Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

I went to Ohrid 10 years ago, independently and it was wonderful, but I suspect it has changed and it is a lot more touristy now, and sorry not to help you with a hotel recommendation (we - self and two 15 year olds) stayed in the Hotel Amsterdam which was a budget hotel a bit out of town (10-15 mins walk in), and although it had a pool (big, lovely, but freezing cold) and we had a triple room, it WAS quite basic and old fashioned (no lift, no TV, and blankets on the bed) but the family that ran it were fantastic and we had a brilliant time, they had loads of fruit trees (help yourself type). It is a really beautiful place. We got a boat out onto the lake (I think for 10 euro, just shows how long ago) and visited the churches. Cobbled streets with restaurants and bars, it is pretty, and I remember there being a few good hotels closer to the town. I am sorry I am not more helpful with a recommendation, but it is / was a nice unspoilt place to go. The airport insisted on paper boarding passes, but I suspect they've moved on now. Enjoy xx

Alexander Villa is a bit out of town but it’s a nice walk along the lake with bars along the way. Very clean and friendly. Good sized pool. Their home made wine was good too.

We were there last year and the airport had not moved on much but was somehow quite charming!
