I’ve got an unexpected weekend alone without the kids, I’m thinking I should maybe treat myself to a break away? I live near Bristol and happy to drive up to 2 hours? But I’ve no idea what to do… please help me ladies I really need a nice break 😍 budget £200 but happy to only do Saturday night if that gives more options.

ps excuse the username but now I’m single and healing ❤️‍🩹

Go down to the Isles of Scilly? You could sail from Penzance to St Mary's (maybe £100 return) find a great B&B then go to a pub with live music, or watch the gig racing etc. Honestly the best place to go when you are solo, all ages just mix in and have fun.

I took the OP to mean this weekend and I don’t think you'd get to the Isles of Scilly for £200 or at short notice. Its famously hard to get a booking.

You could see if you could drop lucky on an overnight extreme day trip from Bristol, fly out Saturday morning, come back Sunday evening, the searches are set up on the website to look for these. You could go to Ireland, France or Spain.

If not, what about Bath? Or somewhere along the south coast? Anything on lastminute.com.

Book yourself into a spa hotel in the Cotswolds.

We stayed at Hotel Du Vin in Exeter a couple of weekends ago. You would only get the one night for your budget but they have a lovely spa facility with outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi cave and the shopping in Exeter is nice for a browse. Lovely area down by the river for a stroll and felt safe for a solo traveller. If you have Blue light discount they do 20% off room rate too to help with budget.

Have you ever been to Bradford-on-Avon? It's pretty and a good place to potter. It's got nice shops and the canal to walk along. Stay in a hotel there.

Thanks for the ideas so far. Yes it is this weekend, I’ve actually booked a sound bath for tonight which I can’t wait for and then I’m going to leave in the morning. I’ve looked at Scilly but it was too last minute and no ferry home Sunday but great idea for the summer.
hotel du vin looks great so that’s on the shortlist. I’ve also looked at st Ives (I’ve never been) thought a little beach walk and dinner out and hopefully some nice shops to wander around. The weather doesn’t look great though does anyone know if it would still be a nice place for the weekend? X

I love St Ives in any weather — there’s the Hepworth Studio, Tate St Ives, the Leach Pottery. But my favourite thing to do is the SWCP to Zennor, and that wouldn’t be fun in poor visibility.

Near to you, I’d do Bath. Ive stayed at the YHA and it was amazing, with frequent buses into town. Spend leftover money on a session at the Thermae Spa pool overlooking the city.
Perhaps somewhere like Wadebridge- easy hired cycle or bus to Padstow but less fancy prices. Lynton and Lynmouth in North Devon. Many many options if you enjoy scenery and the outdoors.
