Crete family hotel recommendations

Hello,
Does anyone have any recommendations for a family hotel in Crete? Travelling with a young family (five year old and an under 1 year old) so a fun pool and/or entertainment would be great. This would either be in the August or October school holidays.
Ideally close-ish to one of the airports in North Crete. Like to eat out so doesn’t have to all inclusive. We’d love to do excursions/boat trips and see some of the historical sites too if the kids would tolerate it!
All suggestions welcome!

Can’t remember the name of the hotel but we stayed just outside of Heraklion. Perfect place for small children

Can highly recommend Candia Park which is just soooo pretty and peaceful! Plenty of sunloungers (on grass as well as sand) and my kids loved the kids club there. We visited the Palace at Knossos on a day trip, and there’s a lovely small harbour nearby too

Lyttos Beach is really good for kids! Stayed in Lyttos Mare last year which is next door but we could use the waterpark at Lyttos Beach and it was great.
