Family weekend break within a couple of hours from Venice, Milan or Pisa

Hoping to spend a weekend in Italy in September. Arrive fri evening, leave Monday morning. Family of 4, kids 11 and 13. Looks like we can fly into Pisa, Venice or Milan MXP. Please help me find a beautiful, picturesque and typically Italian destination for a short, family weekend away. Ideally accessible by public transport and outside the city. I've never been to Italy to start and would appreciate some pointers, thank you!

Peschiera lake garda. 40 mins in car from milan bergamo. Near to a theme park and a zoo as well as beautiful lake.

We stayed at altomincio park or Bella Italia but lots of nice hotels there too.

The Cinque Terre would be a good destination and accessible from Pisa Centrale by train. They are quintissentially Italian, stunningly beautiful and on the coast. There are 5 villages to choose from but they do get very crowded in the height of summer. Alternatively take a look at Lucca which is a typically Italian and truly delightful walled town. Or Castiglioncello which is a lovely seaside town with nature all around and also accessible directly by train from Pisa.

Sestri Levante - and visit Portofino and the Cinque Terre - by train, or boat if the weather is nice - from Pisa. Stresa, Lake Maggiore - easy transfer from Milan Malpensa. Varenna, or Bergamo also from Milan.

@Gizmosgremlins What’s wrong with visiting Venice? It’s just wonderful and my teens liked it! Milan is also a great city.

Lake Maggiore, Stresa is probably the largest resort, boat, mountain, mini zoo, islands to visit. An hour or so from Milan

Caorle is close to Venice and a very lovely beach resort.
