What usually happens with sheets and towels on a two-week cottage stay?

When you rent a holiday cottage for a couple of weeks, what happens with sheets & towels? We’ve booked for 2 weeks this summer and I quite like clean ones after a week. What usually happens?

The cottage owners should arrange for the cleaners to change the bedding and towels after a week.
That said, if there's a washer and tumble dryer, you could wash and dry them yourselves. Saves having to clear out for the cleaner?

I’ve only ever stayed a week but often wash towels and occasionally sheets during the stay,
I’m sure you could ask for a fresh batch after a week though, as that’s when they’re usually changed. Best arranged in advance.

We've either had cleaner come in and change them, or we've been given clean bedding and towels and asked to change ourselves and leave dirty to be collected. Or the owner has offered us the option of either.

I would ask in advance.

Ask them? Different places have different policies on that.

Personally (I look after some self catering holiday accommodation) I offer to change towels after 3 nights and sheets after 5 nights. Some people decline, some accept. If they ask me sooner, I will bring them sooner.

I give them the choice of me coming in (while they're out) and freshening things up for them, or just leaving a bag of fresh laundry so they can sort it out for themselves and then put out the dirty ones for me to collect later.

Thanks all! You are right of course and I will ask the host.
