Urgent advice needed routed via Doha.

Urgent advise needed. My daughter is due to fly home via Doha on Sunday. I booked a backup flight for a day later 3 weeks ago but currently Qatar are refusing to cancel FOC (booked via air Asia) as the change in time is only 30 minutes.

i am really concerned I will have to cancel the other flight by Saturday morning and then Qatar will cancel the Sunday flight.

also worried about the fact I’m guessing its still saying don’t travel to Doha. I am going to try and call Qatar again tomorrow.

anyone flown via Doha lately and know if they are running reliably?

The flight she is booked on with Qatar google that flight number and see how often it’s flown recently, Just type in the Google search ‘QR15’ for example.

Flights are still departing but only a selected few. Are Qatar refusing to cancel because it’s booked via air Asia, as their cancellation policy is quite flexible at the moment.

I would suck up the extra cost and have her use the new flight. Qatar might not cancel. I wouldn’t risk flying via Doha as she’d be uninsured: not a place to be stuck with no travel insurance if airspace suddenly closes and she’s stuck in transit.

Air Asia would have to issue an possible refund.

Sorry, duplicate post. But, how much money could be lost?

snowymarbles · 23/04/2026 08:02

So they paid £425 each for original flights. Qatar are confirming that no refund as not moved much in time. Would be full canx fee as I think they both cheapest tickets. Backup flights I paid £850
each. Would be about £175 can. Each on those if we don’t use them. So worst hit to me is £350 or it’s £1700 to pay full replacement flights for both of them. They are both only 18 and I am not sure her parents would have the money to put in, especially as it would be my call.

good idea to check how often it’s flown recently:

@popcorn215looking at flight aware it seems to have flown every day recent - will it show a canx on the first screen or do I have to go into every day to look?
