Menorca villa recommendations for a small town stay without needing a car

Assuming there will be enough fuel to get us there (!) we're looking to book a week in a villa in Menorca in early July, i.e. before the schools break up. Will be me and DH (late 60s), my SIL (late 70s) and my DS1 (mid 30s). We're all fit and mobile.

DH and I have had a long weekend in Es Castell before, and loved it, but would like to try somewhere else on the island.

What we're looking for:

  • small town
  • car not necessary
  • villa with a pool
  • close to bars/restaurants/shops (for groceries) - i.e. walking distance

Doesn't need to be near a beach, although that is always nice!

We're likely to just spend time chilling out, eating/cooking at the villa during the day and going out to eat and drink in the evening. Not especially bothered by the idea of hiking or kayaking or anything particularly adventurous.

Budget up to £3K (that's the top end - would prefer less if possible!)

Flying from Gatwick or Heathrow.

Are there any specific areas or towns that would be best to look at, or any that might be best avoided?

TIA.

The good ones will be booked. I booked mine 11 months ago!

menorca, one week, second week of
July £3900. It’s completely sold out

Punta Prima. Lovely area with plenty of restaurants along beach front.
Have a look on You Tube to help you decide.

Not Minorca, but Almyrida in Crete fits all your criteria above and has lots of properties in walking distance of the beach / restaurants and is on a great bus route to explore the rest of the island.

I realise that - we could look at different dates, but it's the location that's most important so we know where to start looking

Thanks @Pandersmum - will have a look.

I've been looking at Crete but everything was much more expensive. However, having a specific area to search is a great start.

Check out the Arenal d’en Castell área - it has a beautiful long beach, small but cute town and nice villas. It’s also quite easy to get around Menorca with just the buses and they’re comfortable if you want to venture to another nearby area from there the buses go right through it .

Binibequer / Binibeca might fit the bill. We stayed in a villa there pre pandemic and it was ideal. Quiet, couple of supermarkets, restaurants, bars and a pizza van by the beach. Local bus to Mahon every hour.
