Possible flight cancellations due to fuel shortages

Any thoughts on what insurance you might need against possible flight cancellations if there are aircraft fuel shortages later in the year.

Thinking in terms of buying a short haul flight and accommodation separately. And a cancellation meaning you miss out on the holiday as the next flight isn’t for a few days.

I'm sticking to packages because of the risk.
I lost a large amount in 2020 as CV19 scuppered all the hotels, transfers, car hire etc that I'd paid for.

I’m doing the same as the PP, I’m not risking losing money by booking everything separately. I’m not sure how you’d cover it with insurance otherwise.

If you're booking separately you need to make sure you have good travel insurance that will cover your accommodation.

There was a feature on this at the weekend in either The Guardian or The Observer, which might be worth seeking out.

Just book hotels with free cancellation, an awful lot will let you cancel as late as 72 to 24 hours prior. It costs a bit more than non-refundable but it's a safer option.

thanks for your replies. I think we’ll be looking at cancellation processes for accommodation.
