Beach holiday with baby and preschooler?

What are your experiences of a beach holiday with a baby (6 months) and toddler or preschooler? I love swimming in the sea but I guess there’s not much opportunity if one parent pretty much needs to be with each child? What type of holiday would actually work with this age group?

We love beach and pool holidays with our DCs, currently 5 and 2, but you do have to want to entertain them all the time. There’s no relaxing for yourself really. We don’t mind as they really enjoy themselves.think at these sort of ages unless you use childcare on holiday then they’re all fairly similar.

It's a matter of divide and conquer. I would assume one parent can entertain a child and a baby who may nap a lot for 1 hour while the other swims or otherwise relaxes.

We did beach holidays but neither me nor DH are typical pool/beach people so we did a lot of activities while also playing with the child in the water.

We also did plenty of s/c cottage holidays, kind of doing the same outings we did at home, zoo, museums, playgrounds, walks (with carriers). It's nice just being somewhere else and away.

It can work really well. Get down to the beach just in time for 6mo’s first nap. One parent can supervise the toddler while the other parent relaxes with the napping 6mo. Swap for the second nap! With any luck, toddler will need a nap too after lots of running about, which will give one parent the opportunity go for a decent swim. Use wind breaks or pop up tents to keep the 6mo from crawling off too far, and for nappy changing and breastfeeding privacy.
