We're travelling from Nottingham to Portsmouth on sat to get the overnight ferry and are planning to stop south of Oxford for some food at about 5.30ish.

Looking for recommendations of somewhere to eat with 3 dcs aged 5, 2.9 and 13mths!

I'm guessing your want a restaurant rather than say Chievely Services (which incidentally has a Burger King and sit down eating place and M&S food).

Similarly, there;s a McDonalds just off the A34 at the Didcot exit.

If you want a nicer place and are prepared to travel off the A34 a bit, you can try the Winterbourne Arms (take Chieveley Services exit) or Worlds End pub, (same exit).

if you come off the A34 at Abingdon there's a Pizza Express in town but it'd add a lot of time to the journey to slog through it in rush hour.

The Crown and Horns at East Ilsley has good food, although I have no idea on their child friendliness - they do have a garden though. Not far off the A34.

There's also a pizza express, ASK, Cafe Uno in centre of NEwbury. Mrs Badger do you live near me then??

Newbury sounds quite good - I'll have a look at the travelling time from Nottingham.

Would there be alot of traffice on a Sat late afternoon from the A34 into Abingdon? We like Pizza Express!

I'll check out the pubs too!

Thanks

We travel from Nottingham to Bournemouth area each year and like to stop at Sutton Scotney services.

Nothing special about the food/services but there's a grassy area and picnic tables so if you fancy a picnic, it's a good place to stop.
