I can highly recommend Il Giardino in Pollensa. We're just back from a fortnight in Puerto Pollensa and went to Pollensa town for the day. We had lunch at this place which is in the old square. From the Menu del Dia, dh and I both had quiche (lorraine) and salad followed by lemon tart for dh and chocolate mousse for me. Absolutely sensational - not the cheapest but nor was it ridiculously expensive. Best quiche I have ever, ever tasted and I will be going back next time for the chocolate mousse, too.

We also enjoyed Iru, Tiberi, Simbad's, Tot's Bar & Grill and El Mojito in Puerto Pollensa. Iru is a bit expensive but very good with it. The others are more mid-range, pricewise, with menus reflective of what's typical in the resort(except Tiberi). Tot's has a good Menu del Dia for 12.95 euros including a lovely Mallorcan dish of pork in cabbage leaves.

I'd stay away from Sa Calobra on the north west coast - loads of cafes but all overpriced, from what we could see (we were forced to spend 2 hours there during an excursion waiting for a boat to take us to Port Soller) and not much else to recommend it.

Have a lovely time. We did.

hi, there are three i would recomend, the stay in puerto pollensa and la fonda and clivia in pollensa (old town). All three are rather expensive but very very good (aparently the king of spain eats in clivia whenever he is in mallorca!)

I would agree with MsHighWater. We've just got back from a 2 week break in Pollensa and ate at Il Giardino 3 times and had great meals. I can recommend the tuna steak with avocado, mushroom pasta, vegetable pasta, creme brulee. Kids loved the spag bol. Be warned its very busy on the weekend and you would need to get there early/book.

We had the best tapas in Deia which was very reasonably priced (Stephen Fry was also eating tapas there at the same time!). I can't remember the name of the place I'm afraid but its opposite Restaurant Jaime. The paella also looked great!
