Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone as a day trip from Hue

We are currently planning a trip to Vietnam next year and want to see some of the Vietnam War places. We are staying in Hue for 2 days and planned to go to the Vinh Moc Tunnels on one of them.

Checking some websites, it was recommended to do a full day. - 10 hour - tour which includes further sides like the Khe Sanh Base for example.

We have the whole trip booked with private drivers so we can be as flexible as we want.
As we are off to Hoi An afterwards for 3 days relaxing a long day trip wouldn't be an issue if the trip is worth it.

I think the DMZ is in Korea!

We didn’t visit any military sites in Vietnam but I do remember reading that Vinh Moc is a lot better (ie less commercialised & touristy) than the Cu Chi tunnels near HCMC.

You may do better asking in the Tripadvisor Vietnam forum as people will have more
specific knowledge.

The cu chi tunnels would be an alternative, depending on your trip itinerary, but as pp mentioned they are quite touristy. Personally I think there’s plenty to explore in Hue for two days and would not want to do a 10 hour tour.

On paper/historically there was a DMZ in Vietnam - it used to get the odd mention in the news at the time.

It straddled the border between the Norrh and South, but I don't know if it was anything like the Korean version or if there's much if anything worth seeing there these days.

Cu Chi is also on our list, the war history is a big reason for going to Vietnam but tone is unfortunately not unlimited. As we are doing Vinh Moch definitely.

We currently thinks the trip is worth it.

2 full days in Hue?

2 full days in Hue?

Yes, one for Hue itself and one for the war sites.

Yes, one for Hue itself and one for the war sites.

If so, go for it.
