October Half Term

Hello,
Never taken my 6yo aboard. Looking at October half term. Weather seems to be best canary island way, also Cape Verde but I’ve heard mixed things. Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels in October. Budget of around £3000 for 2 x adults and one child. Ideally with slides, nice pools and very close to a Sandy beach (not asking for much in know..) I’ve never been able to afford abroad before so would like to make sure we pick a great hotel.

We’ve been to Turkey twice at that time of year and had a wonderful time. 26/27 degrees, lovely weather, warm sea. Check that there is a heated pool as they can be a bit chilly and jumpers are needed for the evening.

The sea in Cape Verde will be very cold. Friends who've been talk about wind, big waves and dubious hygiene.

By contrast, places in the Med will mostly still have pleasant sunny days and the sea will have warmed up from the summer. We've been to Malta in October and it was lovely. South of Spain and Italy probably also nice. We had a lovely week in Lisbon one October and swam in the sea off Cascais. Despite being Atlantic rather than Mediterranean, it was a shallow bay and still pretty warm.

If you want African levels of late season heat, there's a reason that the Canaries are so popular.

Canaries and Cyprus are the traditional popular sunny destinations for October, used to include Dubai but not at the moment.
You’ll need a heated pool so check that they heat the pools in Cyprus as I’ve heard that a lot don’t.

Is that self catering?

Look at Caybeach Meloneras with Jet2. You can get that for under 3k and the sand dunes there are unbeatable.

You can get all inclusive at that price too so do shop around

I’d highly reccomend morroco. We went to the Aqua Mirage hotel and were very impressed. After booking we found a number of friends has been and also loved it. It was very good value for money and the weather was impeccable at 30-33C.
