Anyone been? Looking for top tips and advice, great places nearby to eat for families.

What do you wish you'd know before you arrived?

Not stayed there but I know the town well. You are on the edge of town and slightly back. If you are prepared to walk or use the very cheap taxi service the restaurant scene is brilliant and kids are welcome everywhere. There’s cheap as chips stuff (Spoons is nearby, nothing like English Wetherspoons) and top end dining (Lanis, Serenity, Sebastyans, Kentish Gourmet club) and everything in between. It’s a long spread out resort but a taxi to the very far end wouldn’t be more than 6 euro from you.

The old town area, marina and Playa Chica are a lot nicer than the main beach so spend some time there. You can also walk along the cliffs to Puerto Calero.

Make sure you visit some of the Cesar Manrique attractions. I went on a coach trip and went to a few places, was a great day out.

There's a little free museum about the history of aviation and tourism at the airport that's worth a visit.

Local buses are good and cheap if you want to travel further afield without driving.
