Giardini Naxos/Taormina in the rain

Off to Giardini Naxos/Taormina tomorrow and there's thunderstorms/rain forecast literally every day. Gutted to say the least and would really appreciate some recommendations of things to do especially as we have a 5 year old who's only really recently abandoned the stroller! I was looking forward to lots of long beach walks but not sure that's on the cards now. I hate the rain! 😂 Thank you

Will you have a car?

Maybe go to explore Catania for a day. If you haven't got a car then the train goes straight there from

We haven't hired a car this time as only there for 5 days. Will have a think. Really wanted to just relax and explore GN/Taormina with such a short break but depends how bad the weather gets!

We visited Taormina in early May two years ago as two adults. It was a lovely place but not sure much to do with a child in the rain (apart from pizza and visiting one of the many nice ice cream shops. It rained very heavily for a day and a half when we were there and the tiles around our hotel were extremely slippy. We stayed put for two half days and read and watched the rain and admired the stunning view from our hotel then ventured out in the afternoons when it cleared up. I doubt the beach or sunbathing will be on the cards in a week. It is a very beautiful place.
