Villa holidays in Europe (Jet2Villas)

Howdy Mumsnetters!

Looking for a villa holiday in Europe (Preferably Spain/France or Portugal due to flight times)

Ive found some decentish looking stuff via Jet2Villas which is all encompassing Accommodation, Car hire and flights.

I thought id ask for some opinions on here.

Anyone ever booked VIA J2V and have and advice/thoughts and could anyone recommend alternative companies that might offer a similar service that isnt mega money.

Ive travelled a few times with the DD but only Via Ferry or Eurotunnel (Which was a nightmare due to our location in Bristol!

Yup hoping to get away in June....but obviously need to be booking soon as already getting quite limited on choice.

I’m a seasoned Villa booker and I don’t want to piss on your parade but all the good ones will be booked up unless you are willing to spend a shit load (or utterly slum it). People rebook same place OR like me… book a year in advance

june half term? Budget?

Looking 1st week of June so just after the half term.

There's a few nice looking places that ive found but as I havent been on a villa holiday in 25 years and never one that ive had to book and pay for myself I might be massively over paying!

Budget around £2K give or take.

Just for the Villa presumably?

Yeah Flights seem reasonable anyway £400-£600 including bagage and hire cars are also reasonable!...Although i have found some all in prices for less than 2K with flights and hire car included. Im a bit sceptical as ive never used jet 2 before!

what Kind of a villas are these? Presumably no pool? I always get a large pool and that ramps up the cost

We had a fabulous jet2 villa package.
Flights, villa (with own swimming pool), car all in.
Highly recommend (although we were in Cyprus - which im not sure id advocate for tight now)

Is one of the ones I'm considering. Its not exactly super luxe but for 3 of us it looks nice enough. Pool as well £1500

Cyprus is a bit of a no go for me... have family over there so a weeks holiday just becomes a visiting extended family and everyone they have ever met trip. ....Bloody friendly Greeks 😂

We had a villa with Jet2 last summer outside Pollenca in Mallorca. Fantastic property with a pool for 4 of us - it used to be available from James Villas before they went bust.

No complaints about Jet 2 - so easy to book flights, car hire and villa as a package.

We went in mid June and it cost just iver £3,000 for 4 of us (all adults) flying from Belfast

We’ve been on a lot of Jet2 Villa holidays and they’ve all been really good. I think they’re good value. It’s so useful to have villa, flights and car (and baggage) all included in the price! Going to Majorca in April with them.

I normally use Vrbo to book a villa. I don't think I ever used a package company.

My only issue with villas is if they are isolated, you need your car for everything, even just popping to a playground or having a stroll around.

That obviously means prices are higher for anything which is in walking distance but we had fairly big issues when DD four and we were the second time in a Villa which was lovely, but we underestimated how remote it was, the first time was with a 2 year old who napped, we used the stroller more and she was happy just playing with u.

So do check carefully what is around any location.

We normally book independently using Vrbo or AirB&B but £1500 including flights for 3 of you plus car hire sounds pretty good. I don’t know if you know the area at all? My guess is that the villa will be on a stretch of countryside in between Nerja and Frigiliana so you will probably need to use the car to get places, but it’s not isolated as in the middle of nowhere, as it’s an area where a lot of villas are built on the hillside just off the main road. Should have a good view. Nerja is a nice resort, plenty of eateries and a few different beaches, Burriana is the main one. Frigiliana is a white village in the hills.

However, if you do fancy that area but prefer to be actually in Nerja, there are apartment blocks with shared pools and developments such as the various Capistrano ones, again with shared pools. Have a look on vrbo/airB&B/booking .com.
